Not at all! The welding process is quick and painless. You may hear a tiny “zap,” but you should not feel the weld itself. We use a skin protector between your skin and the jewelry being welded so nothing is touching your skin!

Occasionally, jewelry can leave a temporary green discoloration on the skin. This is typically caused by copper in certain metals reacting with moisture, sweat, lotions, perfumes, or other products on the skin.
The green color is a result of oxidation and does not necessarily mean the jewelry is unsafe or that you are having an allergic reaction. It can usually be washed away with soap and water.
At Sweetpea + Sage, we carefully select our jewelry materials and prioritize quality and comfort. However, everyone's skin chemistry is different, and reactions to jewelry can vary from person to person.
We highly recommend being mindful of what products you are putting on your skin where the jewelry is. Jewelry can also have a reaction (and turn your skin green) with hormones and high levels of acidity. It’s very interesting!

Appointments are recommended to guarantee your preferred time. We also offer pop-up events where walk-ins may be available depending on availability.

We offer different metal options, but everyone's skin is different. If you have known metal sensitivities or allergies, please let us know before your appointment so we can help you select an appropriate option.

Permanent jewelry is designed to be worn continuously, but its lifespan depends on the chain, metal, lifestyle, and how you care for it. Even though it's called “permanent,” the chain is intentionally delicate enough to break if significant force is applied. Metals like 14K Solid Gold can last a lifetime with the proper care. Sterling silver can also last 15 years + if taken care of properly.
-
Don't panic! If your chain breaks, save the piece and contact us. Depending on where and how it broke, we may be able to repair or re-weld it. Repair/re-weld policies and fees may vary. All customers are given 1 free weld to repair a piece of jewelry. If your jewelry broke in the middle of a chain, we can either put on a 2nd jump ring or you can replace the chain for a discount.
-
Yes! Permanent jewelry isn't actually permanent. If you need to remove it, simply cut the chain at the welded point with scissors or nail clippers. We recommend saving the chain if you'd like to have it re-welded later.
-
Most permanent jewelry is small and does not typically cause an issue with airport security, so you should be fine!
However, certain medical procedures, including some MRIs, may require metal jewelry to be removed. Always follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider or facility. If you are needing to cut your jewelry for a procedure, you can have it re-welded for free!

Yes, with appropriate parent or legal guardian consent. We recommend considering the child's age, activity level, and ability to care for the jewelry when deciding whether permanent jewelry is a good fit.
-
Most permanent jewelry appointments take approximately 10–20 minutes per person, depending on the number of pieces and customization.
-
Treat your jewelry like your other fine jewelry. Keep it clean, avoid unnecessary pulling or snagging, and be mindful of harsh chemicals. Regularly cleaning your piece with gentle soap and water can help keep it looking beautiful.
-
Yes! Permanent jewelry is designed to be worn during everyday activities, including showering and swimming. However, frequent exposure to chlorine, salt water, and harsh chemicals may affect certain metals over time.
-
All customers are given 1 free weld; regardless of what happens to the jewelry. If your jewelry snags or breaks we can offer a discount on a new chain. If you are needing multiple re-welds for various reasons, then we charge $20 for a re-weld.
